The Legal Spectrum shows legal information on the range from closed to open. While contracts (or other voluntarily entered agreements) are often closed or shared, legislation and case law are – or at least should be – available to the general public without restrictions.

The Legal Spectrum is based on the Data Spectrum, originally published by the Open Data Institute (ODI).

Contracts and some other important legal documents are often kept internal or may be shared only with your contractual partner.

Some legal contracts or documents are shared with larger groups of people or organizations. Some standards are only published for industry members.

Legislation and case law affect everyone of us. Accordingly, more and more of this information is made available as open data by public bodies.
